At the end of every day, GearBox Online calculates the optimal tick speed for the day ahead for select instruments, and this is displayed in four columns, with each speed clearly displayed in one of four colors. Light blue is for the ultra-fast speed, dark blue is for the fast speed, yellow is for the medium speed, and orange is for the slow speed. All you need to do is select the instrument you are trading from the tables above, look across to the speed selection you choose, and set your chart to display the optimal tick speeds for that particular instrument and for the day ahead.

In my training room, I like to show all four charts with all four tick speeds. That way, it is clear to see progression of price movement on each chart, moving from ultra-fast up to slow. Most of the time, I will trade either the Blue or the Yellow tick speeds, as these present the smoothest trends for intraday trading. I like to use the Cyan tick speed for gap-fill trades, or to scalp channels while I am waiting for a good trend to develop.
